The Portal del Alto Colt Is a Contender for the Clásico Jockey Club de Córdoba at La Plata

LA PLATA.- On the path to the Gran Premio Dardo Rocha (G1), the Clásico Jockey Club de Córdoba (2200 m, dirt) will be the other highlight of Tuesday’s card at La Plata. Open to horses four years old and up under weight-for-age conditions, the race boasts a solid candidate in Look Portal.
The Portal del Alto colt comes off a neck victory over Treasure Island (Treasure Beach) in the Clásico Federación Argentina de Jockey Clubes e Hipódromos, with Che Banquero (Greenspring) finishing a close third. Treasure Island returned to winning ways this Monday in Palermo, taking the Handicap Dorian Gray easily, so he will not challenge Look Portal this time, though Che Banquero will line up, having already captured the Malvinas Argentinas and Antonio Cané (G3) earlier this season.
Another danger for Look Portal is Buen Escosés (Bodemeister), returning after 255 days on the sidelines following a last-place finish in the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1). Previously, the Juan Saldivia trainee had finished fifth in the same Dardo Rocha.
Sofware (Treasure Island) has been largely absent in recent finishes but may be regaining form, making him one to watch in exotics. Tambaqui (True Cause), third behind Che Banquero in the Cané by two lengths, could also spring a surprise.
From the conditionals, ambitious contenders include Lomo Plateado (Manipulator), Real Craf (Mastercraftsman), and Sueño Turco (Remote).
