Lucullan to Uruguay: To Stand From 2026 at Haras Marnu

The son of Hard Spun produced 5 stakes winners in Argentina, including Wages, Cold Mind, and Adi Shakti

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay.- Lucullan has a new home. The stallion crossed the river a few weeks ago and will stand from the current season at Haras Marnu, where he will share the roster with Greenpointcrusader (Bernardini), Vindictive(Uncle Mo), Honorable Dillon (Tapit), and South Side (Curlin).

By Hard Spun, the bay was imported to Argentina in 2020 by a breeders' syndicate to stand at Haras La Leyenda, where, to date, he has sired 44 winners from 82 starters (a 53.7 percent efficiency rate), with 5 of them capturing stakes victories.

Among his most prominent offspring are Wages, winner of the Clausura (G2); Adi Shakti, victorious in the Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3) and the Didia; Cold Mind, winner against the colts in the Velocidad (G3); Argomasa, who prevailed in the Sierra Balcarce; and Valentiti, winner of the Vilmar Sanguinetti.

Added to that list are other notable names such as Private Blend, Garbiñe, Opera Pintada, and Regalo del Sol. Meanwhile, in Uruguay, he is currently shining through the Argentine-bred Sweet Feel, recent winner of the Gran Premio Criterium Potrancas (G2).

Born in 2014 in the United States, Lucullan won 6 races there from ages 3 to 5, including the Knickerbocker Stakes (G2) and the Fasig-Tipton Lure Stakes (L). Furthermore, he ran second in the Hill Prince Stakes (G3), third in the Fort Marcy Stakes (G3), and fourth in the Ricoh Woodbine Mile (G1), bankrolling $510,925 in total earnings.

The stallion is out of Golden Velvet (Seeking the Gold), winner of the Sixty Sails Handicap (G3) and the Sabin Handicap (G3), and who also produced Innovative Idea (Bernardini), winner of the Groupie Doll Stakes (G3) and the Iowa Distaff Stakes (L), as well as Embossed (Medaglia D'Oro).

His female family is the same as the outstanding Maxfield (Street Sense), Della Francesca (Danzig), Bernstein (Storm Cat), and the champion Outstandingly (Danzig), among others.
