LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Special to Turf Diario).- Fresh off becoming the top-priced mare of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, where she was purchased for $3.7 million by Dixiana Farms, the outstanding Lush Lips will return to the races this Friday in the Mrs. Revere S. (G2, 1700m, turf) at Churchill Downs, facing a select group of rivals. The race will be one of the highlights on the Friday card in Louisville, which will be headlined by the traditional Clark S. (G2) for a purse of $600,000.

The daughter of Ten Sovereigns arrives at this engagement following a stretch of headlines both on the racetrack and in the sales ring.

In her most recent outing, Lush Lips delivered a brilliant performance to capture the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup S. (G1) at Keeneland, scoring by 1 1/4 lengths under Tyler Gaffalione.

That victory crowned a highly consistent campaign which also saw her finish second in the Del Mar Oaks (G1) and score impressively in the Tepin S. (L) at Churchill Downs, where she defeated Princess Attitude (Frankel) by 3 3/4 lengths — a rival she will face again this time.

Shortly thereafter, she became the star of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, being knocked down to William Shively’s Dixiana Farms, which decided to keep her in training under Brendan Walsh, who has overseen her U.S. campaign.

The Mrs. Revere will be anything but a formality. Lush Lips will meet several proven contenders, including Classic Q (Classic Empire), runner-up in the Valley View S. (G2) and recently tested in stakes company at Kentucky Downs in the Music City S. (G2).

Also entered is Somethinabouther (Mendelssohn), third in that same Valley View, while a strong group of improving fillies includes:

  • Bracelet (Authentic), trained by Brad Cox, coming off an allowance win at Keeneland;

  • Table Flirt (Constitution), from the barn of Bill Mott, a recent winner at Churchill;

  • Pretty Picture (Munnings), representing Three Chimneys Farm, third in the Sands Point S. (G2) at Aqueduct.

Rounding out the field are Fast Market (Volatile), Sea to Sky (Without Parole), In the Stars (Into Mischief), Caviar Breakfast (Mendelssohn) and J N J Heartandsoul (Heart to Heart).

The return of Lush Lips naturally generates strong anticipation — not only because of her recent seven-figure transfer, but due to the sporting reality behind that price tag. Backed by elite form, a top-tier operation and a proven conditioner, the dark bay will attempt to confirm in the Mrs. Revere that her record-breaking valuation at Keeneland was no mere market frenzy, but a true reflection of her class on the racetrack.
