The Filly of Stud-Haras Ojos Claros Earns Her Biggest Win Yet in the Petite Ecurie Handicap

The opportunity was too good to pass up, and with no big names in the mix, Candy Gloriosa rose to the occasion like never before, making the most of her fine current form and successfully translating her strong allowance efforts into a black-type result.
Carrying the silks of Candy Ride for Stud-Haras Ojos Claros, the daughter of Vástago Salvaje—one of the few sons of the champion stallion to stand in Argentina—captured Friday's featured Handicap Petite Ecurie at San Isidro, run over 1200 meters on the light sand of the inner track, headlining an otherwise quiet day at the races.
Ridden confidently by Francisco Leandro and carrying 54 kilos, the gray filly trained by Gustavo Conti engaged briefly with Alta Key (Portal del Alto, 54.5 kilos) early on, dismissed her at the top of the stretch, and had enough left to fend off the late charge of Caoimhe (Cosmic Trigger, 52 kilos), who finished one length behind in second. Hello Candy (Señor Candy, 57.5 kilos) closed to be third.
Sent off as the betting favorite, Candy Gloriosa secured her fourth win in 18 starts. Out of Belleza y Gloria (Honour and Glory), she hails from a deep female family that continues to thrive, also producing the talented Candy and Giant(Giant’s Pleasure), and tracing back to the unforgettable gray Black Sheep (Farmer), a true running machine.
