The Argentine-bred Maggie Go ($10.95) validated her recent allowance win with a gritty third-place effort in Saturday’s Sand Springs Stakes at Gulfstream. Stepping up to stakes company for the first time since arriving in the U.S., the 5-year-old mare finished full of run to beaten just over a length in the 1 1/16-mile turf test.

Sweet Rebecca ($4.65) took the lion's share of the $175,000 purse after Tyler Gaffalione parlayed a ground-saving trip into a neck victory. The winner stalked a moderate pace set by Silver Moonlight before slicing through an opening on the rail. Hang the Moon, a multiple Grade 2 winner, rallied wide for second, while Maggie Go fanned out for the drive and sustained a solid bid to edge out the remainder of the 10-horse field.

Clocked in 1:33.91, the race suggests Maggie Go is a horse to note in upcoming middle-distance turf stakes. The daughter of Winning Prize (ARG) showed significant improvement in her internal splits and tactical versatility on the firm Gulfstream course.
