The Argentine mare appears as one of the main options for Saturday's Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Stakes

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— On a day of maximum global expectation, Argentine and South American racing will be present at Churchill Downs this Saturday. While all eyes are on the Kentucky Derby (G1), there will be an additional reason to closely follow the meeting with the performance of Maggie Go, who will seek a major victory in the Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Stakes (G2).
The competition, which features a purse of one million dollars, will be contested over a mile on the turf and has attracted a highly balanced field of 9 participants. Maggie Go, a daughter of champion Winning Prize who shone in her home country by winning the 2024 Clásico Eliseo Ramírez (G2), arrives at this commitment under the tutelage of prestigious trainer Chad Brown.
After finishing third in her last outing behind Sweet Rebecca in the Sand Springs Stakes (L) at Gulfstream Park, the Argentine representative appears with odds of 8-1 in the morning line. It will be a litmus test where she will attempt to validate her conditions on the most demanding stage in the North, forming part of the extensive card on the most important day of American racing.
The main candidate for victory is the aforementioned Sweet Rebecca, trained by Brendan Walsh. With a price of 5-2, the descendant of American Pharoah defending the silks of Resolute Racing seeks her third consecutive victory.
Alongside the Argentine, Chad Brown will also present Portfolio Duration, a daughter of Night of Thunder who comes off a multi-length victory at the allowance level and now debuts in stakes company with a 4-1 vote of confidence. For his part, trainer Graham Motion will send out Italian Soiree (Uncle Mo), who won the Coronation Cup Stakes(G3) at Saratoga and is coming off a recent win at Laurel Park.
Another prominent figure is Pin Up Betty (Constitution), prepared by Mike Maker. The defender of Three Diamonds Farm is a true specialist on the Churchill Downs turf, where she has secured all four victories of her career. Following a brave fifth-place finish in the Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1), she emerges as a rival to watch with odds of 7-2.
The Churchill Distaff Turf Mile is positioned as the seventh race on an exceptional program, serving as one of the great attractions prior to the "Run for the Roses" and offering Argentine racing the possibility of celebrating at the top of the international podium.
