Magnitude, giant-killer of champions, will enter stud at a fee of US$ 70,000

Coolmore America announced the stud fees for its two new additions to Ashford Stud for 2027. The Dubai World Cupwinner will serve as the marquee addition, while the undefeated Paladin, a son of Gun Runner, will launch his career at a fee of $20,000

LEXINGTON, Kentucky.— Defeating the last two winners of the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) is not a selling point just any horse can display. Magnitude (Not This Time) holds that privilege, and Coolmore America made it a centerpiece of its campaign as he joins the Ashford Stud roster for 2027 at an introductory fee of $70,000.
The Dubai World Cup (G1) winner—having captured the $12 million feature at Meydan—enters stud following an elite international campaign, which also featured a victory in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1).
As a son of Not This Time, one of the most sought-after stallions in the North American market, he carries top-tier genetic backing to complement his racing credentials.
However, the detail Coolmore chose to highlight features legendary names: Forever Young (Real Steel) and Sovereignty (Into Mischief), heroes of the last two runnings of the Breeders' Cup Classic, were among the rivals Magnitude defeated during his career.
“The fact that Magnitude defeated both last year's Classic winner and this year's winner demonstrates the extraordinary power he possessed,” stated Charlie O'Connor, Director of Sales at Ashford Stud.
That appraisal carries particular weight following Sovereignty's coronation at Keeneland, where he closed out his racing career prior to joining the stallion roster at Darley America.
Magnitude had also been among the key contenders expected for the recent Breeders' Cup, but ultimately missed the event. Now officially retired, the objective shifts to transmitting the speed and competitive determination he showed on the track to his progeny.
The second recruit announced by Coolmore is Paladin (Gun Runner), who will launch his stud career at a fee of $20,000.
His profile is different, yet equally compelling. Purchased for $1,900,000 as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale, Paladin retires undefeated, boasting victories in the 2025 Remsen Stakes (G2) and the Risen Star Stakes (G2)on February 14.
In that latter engagement, he defeated Golden Tempo (Curlin), who would later go on to capture the Kentucky Derby (G1)—a key piece of form that enhances the merit of his record.
“When you add Paladin alongside Magnitude—an undefeated colt who was an early Derby favorite and defeated the eventual winner of that race—we have two truly exciting additions,” O'Connor explained.
The executive also confirmed that both stallions are already available for inspection by breeders at Ashford Stud.
Coolmore's strategy thus balances two prospects with distinct commercial appeal. On one hand, Magnitude offers proven G1 brilliance, international experience, and one of the hottest sire lines in the industry. On the other, Paladinprovides access to an unbeaten son of Gun Runner with classic-winning formlines at a significantly lower fee.
The competition among Kentucky's premier stud farms for the 2027 season is well underway, featuring top-tier additions and fees that reflect the high commercial value of America's elite racehorses.
Magnitude stands out as one of Ashford Stud's key gambits. His victories over Forever Young and Sovereigntyearned him a rare distinction; now he must prove he can be just as influential in the breeding shed.
