After 20 seasons at stud, he had been retired in 2025; his passing occurred this Thursday due to natural causes

At the age of 25, notable stallion Manipulator died this Thursday at Haras Don Arcángel, as confirmed by sources close to the farm, from natural causes. The bay had already been retired from stud duty after the most recent breeding season. A son of Unbridled and sire of seven G1 winners, he had returned to the farm that imported him from the United States in 2005 after many years at Haras La Pasión, having begun his stud career at El Tala and also standing at Haras Las Dos Manos in 2011.
There is no doubt that Manipulator was one of the most generous stallions of recent decades in Argentina, working for two full decades with remarkable consistency, even if the market never fully reflected the value of his progeny in terms of high prices.
From 899 runners, he sired 585 winners—an outstanding 65.1% strike rate—with 43 stakes winners in Argentina, including 21 graded winners and seven at the G1 level.
Among his best offspring was El Moisés, winner of the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G1) and Gran Premio Nacional (G1), earning Champion 3-Year-Old Male honors in 2014; Sembra Fe, victorious in the Gran Premio Saturnino J. Unzué (G1) and Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1); Logrado, winner of the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1); Evilasio and Che Capanga, both winners of the Gran Premio Estrellas Mile (G1); Café Fuerte, who captured the Gran Premio Suipacha (G1); and Manuca Rosalina, heroine of the Gran Premio Selección de Potrancas (G1).
Quiero Sardina, Elveda, Pura Bellota, Heavy Love, Mantrap, Black Coyote, Forge Majeure, Foto Graciosa, Hyperloop, Heat Miami, Collicura, Big Phelps, among others, also stand out among his progeny, with more recent performers including En Un Rincón, Soy La Líder, Tac-Tac, and Mis Locuras.
Among his most notable descendants, mention must be made of Tan Gritona (Full Mast), winner of the Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1) and Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1) and Champion 2-Year-Old Filly of 2022, as well as fellow G1 winners Milagrosa Sureña (Try Twice), Polvorada (War Command), and Nueva Fragancia (Hurricane Cat).
Manipulator carried one of the strongest female families of the Phipps line. His dam, Inside Information (Private Account), was Champion Older Mare in the United States and also produced Smuggler (Unbridled), Champion 3-Year-Old Filly, and Illicit (Mr. Prospector), dam of G2 winner Gone Astray (Gone West), while the pedigree also traces back to two-time G1 winner Educated Risk (Mr. Prospector), among others.
The sons and daughters of Manipulator will continue to appear on the racetrack for years to come, likely enhancing his already remarkable record and keeping alive the legacy of what he was: a truly notable stallion—one who fueled the passion of all kinds of owners, who sought his progeny knowing that, in one way or another, they would bring enjoyment.
