On an otherwise modest card, the apprentice rider, the filly, and the colt stole Wednesday’s headlines

There wasn’t much in the way of top-end quality on Wednesday’s card at San Isidro, where low-level claiming races dominated the program. The lone exception—the one true spark on the day—was the dramatic finish of the Handicap Make Tracks, where Príncipe Soñado (Fragotero) stamped himself with a dazzling performance.

With betting turnover extremely modest—434,609,705 pesos in total, averaging 27,163,106 pesos across 16 races, numbers now comparable to a typical La Plata meeting—there were still a few noteworthy highlights to salvage.

Chief among them was the thoroughly celebrated treble by apprentice jockey María Eugenia Schneider, who continues to solidify her reputation and validate the buzz she generated upon reaching the major circuits. Her day opened in Race 2, when Amiguitamilonguerita (Todo Un Amiguito–Amiguita Milonga, by Espaciado; bred by Haras Don Nico) finally broke her maiden at the 24th attempt, scoring by one length.

An hour later, Schneider teamed with Rosario-bred Magical Child (Magical Touch–Put Up, by Treasure Beach; bred by Haras Sofía) for a perfect debut, edging Fabulous Play (Macho Fabuloso) by a nose over 1100 meters in the first division of the Premio Boario. Juan Ublich trains the filly for Caballeriza J.G.U.

The treble was sealed under the lights in the nightcap—the second division of the Premio Orpengamio (1200m)—where Schneider guided Humorada Bomba (Humor Acido–Zambomba, by Indygo Shiner; bred by Haras La Tutina) to a one-length win, lifting her out of the lowest class level.

So far this season, María Eugenia Schneider has recorded 42 wins (a 10.7% strike rate), and her career tally now stands at 72 victories, including two stakes, both aboard Sabiyano (Fortify) at La Plata.

Elsewhere on the card, two promising juveniles added their second career victories: the colt Severino Hit (Hit It a Bomb–Severine, by Speightstown; bred by Haras Firmamento) and the filly Sizzling Hot (Springdom–Reinvent, by Incurable Optimist; owned by Triple Alliance SA).

Severino Hit wired the field in the Premio El Acuchillador (1300m, dirt), scoring by three-quarters of a length, while Sizzling Hot followed suit in the Premio Master Mayo (1300m, dirt). Both races were part of the claiming ranks—far more than a mere stopgap, as they continue to produce useful, improving runners.
