Mayan Goddess amplió diferencias y sigue invicta en La Plata

The daughter of Made You Look defeated Temper Bomb once again, this time by 2 1/2 lengths in the Clásico Eusonio C. Boni (L); it was the third consecutive victory at El Bosque for the Pauli filly

LA PLATA.- Revenge came swiftly for Marcelo Sueldo and Gonzalo Borda. Following the defeat of Hi Pocho (Hi Happy) in the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1), Sunday restored their smiles courtesy of Mayan Goddess, who handled the Clásico Eusonio C. Boni (L-1,100 m, fast track) with complete authority and extended her perfect record at El Bosque: three visits, three victories.
A heavy and well-supported favorite, the Stud Pauli defender replicated her outcome from the Clásico Raúl Lottero(L), albeit with far greater ease. Once again Temper Bomb (Hit It a Bomb) had to settle for second best while Crazy Train (Remote) completed the trifecta, but that previous half-length margin between the top two expanded to 2 1/2 lengths, reflecting accurately what unfolded on the track.
The 100-meter reduction in distance compared to their previous meeting could have fueled hopes for the runner-up. However, Mayan Goddess had more than enough answers to offset that factor and assert her formidable stretch kick. Once she found her rhythm, the debate was short-lived: she blew past the leader and left an impression of vastly superior quality.
Crazy Train set the early tempo, though she quickly found Temper Bomb eager to press for the lead. The pair bore the brunt of the early workload while Borda, avoiding the scrimmage, settled the favorite at the tail of the field during the initial stages, conserving her energy for the decisive moment.
Upon straightening into the stretch, Temper Bomb managed to shake off her early challenger and took full command. Meanwhile, Mayan Goddess had already advanced into third with clear sailing to launch her drive. The race entered its most compelling phase, with the leader trying to capitalize on her advantage and the favorite gearing up to chase her down.
The verdict arrived inside the final 150 meters. There, the winner burst forward, collared Temper Bomb, and overwhelmed her without giving her any chance to fight back. Her momentum carried all the way to the wire, establishing a 2 1/2-length winning margin. Another 5 lengths separated the runner-up from Crazy Train, as the timer stopped in 1:05.31.
The triumph confirmed the outstanding form of a filly who returned revitalized from a six-month hiatus that followed her second-place finish in the Clásico Carlos Casares (G3). Since her comeback, she has found La Plata to be the ideal venue to display her talent, assembling a winning streak that now includes back-to-back listed triumphs.
With 4 victories in just 6 starts, Mayan Goddess combines efficiency with plenty of room for continued growth. Her progression was equally evident in direct comparison with her rivals: the very same horses who had pushed her to a tight finish in the Lottero were forced this time to accept a considerably wider margin.
Bred by Haras Gran Muñeca, she is a daughter of Made You Look, delivering another valuable result for the sire's debut crop. For Sueldo and Borda, it represented another stakes celebration in a year that has seen them take center stage from the outset, particularly with the 3-year-old division.
