In an exciting finish, there was a shared winner in the Haras Cumeneyén; Doña Chila was only fifth after leading until the home straight

LA PLATA.- There was more than enough excitement in the Handicap Haras Cumeneyén (1000 m, heavy dirt), the other race above the common level included in Tuesday's card at this city's racetrack. The photochart verdict was a dead heat! between Maylena (Qué Vida Buena, 58) and Gran Celestial (Il Mercato, 57 1/2), the kind that sparks discussions among fans and some private wagers...
After Doña Chila (Peten Itza, 60 1/2) led the way decisively for most of the trip, it was the two winners who stole the spotlight. Maylena took command first, but Gran Celestial never gave up; she charged in the final stages and the wire marked a tie, although, at first glance, it seemed that the latter had managed to dominate.
Adding even more suspense to the finish, Sprint Back (Nickelback, 55 1/2), the second least-bet horse in the field, finished third by half a length, all after a time of 1m37s/100, more than acceptable given the track conditions. Doña Chila, meanwhile, tired out at the end and finished only fifth, in a performance that was lower than expected.
Lucas Guida and Eduardo Corsiglia were the professionals who shone with Maylena; meanwhile, Iván Monasteroloand Norberto Baldaro teamed up behind Gran Celestial.
