The daughter of Qué Vida Buena will shoulder the high weight of 58 kilos, but boasts superior form compared to her rivals

There is little to tell regarding the Especial Jockey Club del Perú, the main event of this afternoon's card at the local track, to be contested over five furlongs. Open to fillies and mares 4-year-olds and up with at least three wins, the race offers an ideal opportunity for Maylena (Qué Vida Buena) to shine, despite being assigned the high weight of 58 kilos.
The daughter of Qué Vida Buena has been facing a higher caliber of competition, and that class relief should prove decisive. Winner of the Especial París Queen on the final date of 2025, she comes off a dead-heat victory with Gran Celestial (Il Mercato) in the Handicap Haras Cumeneyén, carrying the same weight she faces today.
Coming through the same form line are Sprint Back (Nickelback, 54) and Terra Fade (Fade Out, 52), who finished third and fourth, respectively, that afternoon. Neither was too far behind the prohibitive favorite, and both now aim for an upset.
Estadía (Il Campione, 56) brings a solid record, returning to the local oval backed by a victory at Palermo nearly three months ago. That day, she scored by a half-length over Rare Humor (Safety Check), leaving a good impression. It remains to be seen how she returns from the layoff, but she is another name capable of testing Maylena.
Further down in the preferences are Depende de Ti (Lucky Island, 54), Grand Sara Jet (Grand Reward, 54), and Nina Ride (Señor Candy, 52), all of whom must significantly improve their form to factor in the finish.
It looks to be Maylena's time once again in the "city of diagonals."
