The son of Constitution took revenge on My Way and could run the continental race again, in which he was second in 2025

SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Chile (Special for Turf Diario).- A consecrating performance was delivered by Medjool in the Clásico Verano Arturo Cousiño L. (G2), confirming that his racing maturity is going through an unbeatable moment. The defender of the silks of Stud El Mirador not only took an expected revenge, but did so with an authority that clears any doubt about his international status, positioning himself as the great hope of Club Hípico de Santiago for the upcoming Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1) of 2026, to be held on the Monterrico turf, Peru, on Sunday, April 26.
After having shadowed My Way (Mendelssohn) on 3 consecutive occasions, the offspring of Constitution chose the setting of the 2,000 meters of turf at Blanco Encalada to dictate a true lesson in superiority. The development of the commitment showed a serene Medjool, under the expert riding of Joaquín Herrera, who decided to bring him in the last position of the small field. However, that position was strategic; the leader and big favorite of the R.T. never managed to pull away enough to neutralize the advance of the pupil of Julio Orellana.
Upon entering the stretch, the expectation of a head-to-head duel quickly vanished before the power of the horse bred at Haras Don Alberto. Without major demands, Medjool zoomed past his rivals with a devastating stride, stretching the margins until crossing the finish line with 5 1/2 lengths of advantage over a My Way who this time had no answers. The scoreboard was completed by Frateli la Vita (Seeking the Dia), who arrived third at 1 1/4 lengths from the runner-up, while the clock stopped at an outstanding 1m59s32/100 for the distance.
This victory comes with a double taste of revenge. It is worth remembering that Medjool already knows what it is to shine in the continental concert, after his notable second place behind Obataye (Courtier) in the 2025 Latinoamericanoheld at Gávea, Rio de Janeiro, where he finished as the highest-ranked foreigner.
With this demonstration of strength in the Verano (G2), the stayer ratifies that he has the talent and experience necessary to go for the ultimate glory on Peruvian soil, carrying the flag of Chilean horse racing with solid arguments and an impeccable physical condition.
Medjool was definitive and will most likely represent Chile in Monterrico. He will be another of the candidates.
