ARCADIA, California (Special for Turf Diario).— A few weeks ago, when the Argentine-bred Mi Confesión made her debut on U.S. tracks, it was said that despite finishing off the board, she gave the impression of needing the race.

Well, this Sunday, in her second appearance there, she began to pay dividends on the investment made by Mike Repole, her current owner, crossing the wire in front at Santa Anita Park just as she previously did at San Isidro and Palermofor Adolfo Cambiaso, whose colors she defended.

With a different attitude, moving to the front from the start, the bay mare grew stronger as the meters passed, anchored by the Venezuelan jockey Emisael Jaramillo, who is incredibly tough when placing his mounts in the lead—a reputation he built in his home country and continues to strengthen in the north.

Trained by Michael McCarthy, the bay set firm fractions of 23s19/100, 46s66/100, and 1m11s1/100, withstanding the pressure from Lavender Love (Grazen), before defending herself with class in the homestretch against the charge of the favorite and stakes winner Take Another Card (I'll Have Another). At the finish, the margin was 1 3/4 lengths over the latter, with Lavender Love completing the trifecta, all in an excellent time of 1m34s96/100.

Bred by Haras Juan Antonio, Mi Confesión returned a dividend of $11.40 for every two bet, and it would now be no surprise if she directly targets the black-type racing scene, which is always generous in the Californian circuit.

Out of Galicia Gold (Asiatic Boy), a full sister to the champion Galicado and a half-sister to G1 winner Got Talent(Easing Along), Mi Confesión was one of the most prominent fillies of the last season in Argentina. Competing for Stud La Dolfina and trained by Juan Saldivia, she won the Clásico Bayakoa (L) on the San Isidro turf and lost the Clásico Manuel J. Güiraldes (G3) at the wire to Forti Leaf (Fortify); she was also runner-up in the Clásico Federico de Alvear (G2) and third in the Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G1) behind Moon Frank (Gidu) and the three-time champion Charm (Strategos). She had also finished second on debut in the Especial Juan P. Artigas.

Mi Confesión sparks future illusions in the United States, where many Argentine and South American horses will soon be major news.
