Milers, sprinters and staying mares headline the upcoming stakes action at La Plata

The Clásico 25 de Mayo (G2), Asociación Bonaerense de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3), and Clásico México were officially confirmed, shaping an attractive upcoming stakes schedule at La Plata for milers, sprinters, and staying mares alike
LA PLATA.- The next three race programs at this racetrack were officially confirmed Monday, each one headed by a featured stakes event.
The strongest card will come Tuesday, May 26, with a new edition of the Clásico 25 de Mayo de 1810 (G2-1600m, dirt), one of the season’s premier middle-distance events.
Following six defections, the field was reduced to 11 runners, highlighted by the presence of Storm Sound (Hi Happy), Campo Verde (Strategos), and El Ernesto (Señor Candy).
Also set for the starting gate are Bombay Lake (Anjiz Lake), Brasilero Francisco (Lizard Island), Colour Vision (Univisión), Don Zahir (Daddy Long Legs), El Estanciero (Fire Slam), Llebrenc (Forge), Proude Paris (Lucullan), and Vampiro Zen (Zensational).
That same afternoon will also feature the Handicap Haras Pozo de Luna (1200m, dirt) for horses four and older with three or more victories, where a field of 12 was confirmed and Arcanum (Horse Greeley) will shoulder top weight of 61 kilos.
Friday, May 29, will bring the Clásico Asociación Bonaerense de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3-1200m, dirt) for horses three and up, though only five runners remained after final declarations.
Fresh off his victory in the Clásico Julio Corte (L), El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo) will seek another stakes success against Azucar Negro (Angiolo), Garufa Mask (Mask), Huracán Risk (Security Risk), and Rodo (Flowing Rye).
The Especial Fornara (1200m), run under weight-for-age conditions for fillies and mares three and up and originally attracting 20 entries, was canceled.
Finally, Sunday, May 24, will open the La Plata stakes week with the Clásico México (2100m, dirt) for fillies and mares three and older.
That race lost nine entrants and was reduced to five confirmed starters: Abrazo Al Cielo (Treasure Beach), Embrujada Girl (Cosmic Trigger), Existing (Winning Prize), La Watson (Hurricane Cat), and Soy La Líder (Manipulator).
The Especial Talavera (1400m, dirt) for mares four and older with at least three wins remained on the card with eight confirmed participants and will also be contested Sunday.
