A very modest Monday program at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo will be anchored by the Handicap Mariache(1600m, dirt), for horses aged five and up, which nonetheless brings together several runners with genuine stakes credentials.

After spending the past months campaigning at a much higher level — including victories in the Clásico Buenos Aires(G3), the 25 de Mayo de 1810 (G2) and the Clásico Colombia — Monsieur Delon (Il Campione) drops back in class looking to get back to winning ways, and he will not have to shoulder the topweight.

A recent fourth behind Storm Sound (Hi Happy) in the Clásico Hipódromo de La Plata (G3), the son of Il Campionewill, however, have to keep a close eye on Emergent (Il Campione, 58), who, after landing the Handicap Silfo, tested top company in the Gran Premio Palermo (G1) and finished a respectable sixth, just 5 1/2 lengths behind Earth God(Cosmic Trigger).

The topweight of 61 kilos has been assigned to Emmspacial Boy (Emmanuel), whose participation remains uncertain after his complete failure in the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2) last Wednesday, where he trailed home last after a demanding effort. Still, his class must always be respected and, if he runs, he cannot be overlooked.

A notch below in terms of proven class sit El Despertar (Il Campione, 56), Basko Texano (Nashville Texan, 54) and Boyero Spring (Greenspring, 57), all with interesting credentials and set to benefit from carrying less weight than the main contenders.

For those looking to spring a big surprise, Tryman (Safety Check, 53) could be the one to spice things up.
