The daughter of Orpen returns to the turf in the capital city following a disappointing effort on the dirt track, and she looms as the clear horse to beat in the Handicap Pensilvania

High-end quality will not be the defining feature of this afternoon’s 15-race card drawn up by the Hipódromo Palermo, with the center of attention falling on the Handicap Pensilvania.

Slated at a mile on the turf for fillies and mares four years old and upward, the event features a rock-solid contender in Moon's Destiny, who returns to a course where she boasts a remarkably high strike rate, carrying a highly cooperative assignment of 57 1/2 kilos.

The daughter of Orpen enters off a disappointing effort on the dirt in the Handicap Platería. However, all five of her career victories have been achieved on the inner turf course of the capital city venue, including notable triumphs in the Clásico Farnesio and the Handicap Juan Alberto Maldotti.

The Carampangue homebred will need to keep a watchful eye on the ever-consistent Splash Park (Safety Check), who gets a 53 1/2-kilo featherweight. She stretches out to the mile for the first time in her career on the back of consecutive third-place finishes in both the aforementioned Handicap Juan Alberto Maldotti and the Handicap Platería.

Conceding just 1 1/2 kilos to the favorite is Resilincia Holiday (Cosmic Trigger), who carries 56 kilos after putting together a pair of solid efforts. On the La Plata dirt, she finished a distant second, beaten 8 lengths by La Watson(Hurricane Cat) in the Clásico Vit Reina, before venturing to Rosario to face males in the Clásico 25 de Mayo at Independencia, where she closed to finish fourth.

One cannot afford to overlook Timberlay (Portal del Alto), who gets 53 kilos as she aims to get back on the right track following a lackluster performance in the Handicap Platería. Prior to that setback, she had secured consecutive runner-up finishes in the Especial Jardy and the Handicap Juan Carlos Noriega, both contested over the exact same distance she faces today.

Holding a more speculative look on paper is Esperanza Eterna (Il Campione), burdened with 51 1/2 kilos. Her sole experience at the stakes level yielded a third-place finish in the Especial Amsterdam, and she will need to take a step forward to mount a serious upset bid for the top positions.

The small field of seven runners is rounded out by Una Gloria (Treasure Beach) at 50 kilos and Fontanela (Lucullan) at 52 kilos. Both enter with modest credentials compared to their rivals but carry the light-weight advantages that always offer hope, though they will certainly need to show significant improvement to factor in the outcome.
