Moon Scenery Bided Her Time and Claimed Victory at Palermo

Rebounding from her previous setback, the Santa Fe mare narrowly edged out Seaward and Filippiada in the Handicap Bernardo A., Adolfo P. y Aníbal J. Giovanetti

Moon Scenery (55 1/2 kg.) completely erased her previous setback in the Handicap Chapadmalal and emerged as the star of Thursday afternoon at Hipódromo Palermo with her victory in the Handicap Bernardo A., Adolfo P. y Aníbal J. Giovanetti, contested over 1400 meters on the fast normal dirt track.

In a high-impact thriller of a finish, the daughter of Puerto Escondido had just a bit more left in the tank than Seaward(Hi Happy, 52) to edge her by a neck, with heavy favorite Filippiada (Il Mercato, 59) rounding out the trifecta by the exact same margin behind.

With Wilson Moreyra operating at his absolute best, the defender of Caballeriza El Gran Peters capitalized brilliantly on the duel that Seaward and Filippiada waged for virtually the entire running, biding her time at the tail of the field until reaching the home lane.

Down the stretch, while her rivals continued their duel, the dark bay launched a wide rally and joined the battle, tipping the scales in her favor in the final strides to secure top honors in a time of 1m24s30/100.

Trained by Daniel A. Rubén, Moon Scenery was bred at Haras Gran Muñeca and is out of the memorable race mare Moon Sale (Not for Sale), who captured the Clásico La Mission (G2) and Clásico Chile (G3), in addition to winning the local Polla de Potrancas in Santa Fe. Previously, the dam produced the G1 winner Moon Frank (Gidu).
