The Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1)—along with the three other Group 1 races that make up its festival (the Copa de Plata, Anchorena, and Unzué)—is now fully set. With Tuesday’s post-position draw on the fourth floor of the San Isidro grandstand, everyone knows where they will break from, and tactical plans can begin to take shape.

In an event that felt austere—surprisingly so, given this is the country’s most important race and one awarded a massive purse—the standout moment was the brilliant press conference given by Lanfranco Dettori, the legendary Italian rider. With the Jockey Club’s flagship meeting, he begins his South American farewell tour, which will continue in January at Maroñas for the Ramírez (G1) and conclude in early February at Gávea in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Luck varied among the leading contenders for the “Great Final.” Brazil’s Obataye (Courtier) drew post 6, Acento Final(Treasure Beach) will start from 5, and Real Rim (Remote) from 2. Connections of Crazy Talent (Equal Talent) opted for gate 1, while The Gladiator’s Hat (Hat Ninja), the Dardo Rocha (G1) hero, landed post 3.

Nearly all the major players will have the chance to save ground—except for Vundu (Suggestive Boy), who typically races on or near the lead and must depart from post 15. The consolation: in 2024, Intense for Me (Fortify) and El Kodigo(Equal Stripes) had to break from even wider stalls.

The Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) will close the series of major races as the 14th on the program at 7:30 p.m. The G1 Félix de Alzaga Unzué (1000m) goes first at 4:20 p.m. as race 9, followed by the Anchorena (1600m) at 4:55 p.m. as race 10, and the Copa de Plata (2000m) at 6:05 p.m. as race 12.

The post position for the G1 races at San Isidro are the following ones:
