LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— Closing rallies took center stage in Saturday's two headline events at Keeneland, where Movie Night confirmed her steady rise by capturing the Lexus Raven Run Stakes(G2-1400 m, dirt), while Dr. Kapur delivered one of the afternoon's biggest shocks by taking the Perryville Stakes(G3-1400 m, dirt).

In the feature for 3-year-old fillies, Movie Night (Speightstown) logged her third win in six starts, rewarding the confidence of jockey Flavien Prat and trainer Will Walden.

Bred and owned by WinStar Farm, the winner tracked the early tempo from four wide as longshot Mythical (St Patricks Day) set fractions of 22s75/100 and 45s84/100.

Turning into the stretch, Movie Night began to launch her charge, drawing on terms with the leader before taking command with authority to pull away to a 2-length victory, stopping the clock in 1m23s28/100.

Mythical held second, a length clear of 51-1 outsider Army's Marauder (Army Mule). Mashallah (Maxfield), the 2-1 favorite, stumbled at the break and never made an impact.

“I just tried to keep her relaxed. She settles very easily, and today she was calm—almost too calm. But she ran like a true veteran,” Prat noted.

Walden pointed out that the filly had previously finished a close third in the Dogwood Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs and found a much more favorable setup this time around.

“When she gets out into the middle of the track she really relaxes. That's what happened today, and when Flavien asked her for the effort, she had plenty to give,” he explained.

Dr. Kapur, a victory with a story

Two races earlier, Dr. Kapur (Mo Town) staged a dramatic late rally to secure the Perryville Stakes, nipping Chief Wallabee (Constitution) by a neck at the wire.

Ridden by Tyler Gaffalione for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., the Ken Ramsey homebred/colorbearer returned $50.00 at 24-1 odds to notch his maiden graded stakes success.

The race unfolded at a grueling pace early on, with Roscoe's Brother (Violence) carving out fractions of 22s11/100 and 44s59/100. As the pacesetter folded in the lane, Chief Wallabee took over the lead, but could not resist the winner's late charge.

Dr. Kapur, who had settled near the rear of the field, found clear room in the final strides to hit the wire in 1m24s25/100. Obliteration (Violence) finished third, just a nose behind the runner-up.

The victory brought his career record to 3 wins in 8 starts, coming off a second-place effort behind Stradale (Yaupon) in the Gallant Bob Stakes (G2).

Yet behind the result lay a deeply personal backstory. Ken Ramsey named the colt in honor of the New York surgeon who performed his kidney transplant in 2025.

The prominent owner also publicly expressed his gratitude to Tom Pope, a family friend and the living organ donor who restored his health.

“My kidney function had dropped to 8 percent, and now it's at 84. He is the reason I am standing here today. I am going to live to be 100 or die trying,” Ramsey shared with emotion.

Gaffalione, for his part, celebrated the result: “The horse responded everywhere I put him and finished with tremendous strength. I'm thrilled for Ken Ramsey.”

With that, Keeneland treated fans to two thrilling finishes, marked by Movie Night establishing her position among top sprinting fillies and Dr. Kapur stepping up in class, on an afternoon that blended top-tier sport, upset results, and emotional stories.
