It is impossible not to anticipate a high-level spectacle after the final field of runners for the Gran Premio Estrellas Distaff (G1-1800 m, turf) was announced this Monday. Serving as one of the main attractions of the 2026 Carreras de las Estrellas festival and a centerpiece for Saturday's card, the race drew 12 final confirmations, headlined by the outstanding Charm, who arrives fully intended to bounce back from her unexpected lackluster performance in the Gran Premio Gilberto Lerena (G1).
The Triple Alliance chestnut, crowned Champion 2 and 3-Year-Old and Horse of the Year in 2025, will attempt to secure another Estrellas trophy after her coronation 12 months ago in the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1), which was held on the Palermo dirt track. The daughter of Strategos will certainly not be in unfamiliar territory, as she captured the Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1) on the Jockey Club turf during her previous campaign.
The Distaff will present fascinating challenges for Charm, who must face the top three finishers from the Gran Premio Copa Diamante (G1): Indiana Candy (Señor Candy), Samba do Brasil (Springdom), and Dream Serena (Forge)—the latter entering the lineup after paying the supplementary fee, as she was not originally nominated to the series.
The experienced Noche Alta (Hi Happy) and Neowise (Agnes Gold) come through that same formline, adding further depth to the group alongside Lancara (Manipulator), who is fresh off a victory at Palermo in the Clásico Círculo de Propietarios de Caballerizas de SPC (G3).
Casa Pueblo (Strategos), Elvitas (Cosmic Trigger), Invocación (Treasure Beach), La Watson (Hurricane Cat), and Pawnee Drive (Lucullan) complete the field.
The event will feature a modified total purse of 92,000,000 pesos, with $62,000,000 reserved for the winner, adjusted following the supplementary payment made for Dream Serena.
