Naimabad Target Handicap Wally at San Isidro

Carrying 58 kilos, she squares off against graded stakes winner Calle de Tierra over 1,100 meters on the dirt surface

Another Wednesday racing program is on tap at Hipódromo de San Isidro, featuring an 11-race card highlighted by a pair of 3-year-old events and centered around the Handicap Wally, set for 1,100 meters on the dirt surface for fillies and mares 4 years old and up.

Only 6 runners were originally entered, but undefeated Wanda (Fragotero) is expected to scratch. That setup gives Naimabad (Il Campione) a prime opportunity to build on her sharp recent form and add another notable stakes score to her résumé.

A half-sister to champions Nanabush (Il Campione) and Nanda Dea (Fortify), the dark bay filly comes off a sub-par performance against males in the Handicap Candy Stripes. Prior to that effort, however, she compiled several standout performances, led by a victory in the Clásico Eduardo Jara.

She carries 58 kilos—a half-kilo less than Calle de Tierra (Strategos), a multiple stakes winner at Hipódromo de La Plata who seeks redemption at the Jockey Club Argentino track after a sixth-place finish in the Clásico Producción Nacional (L).

Racing weight-for-age in the Clásico Estrellas Dirt, Indomable (Hi Happy) failed to threaten and finished unplaced. Shifting to handicap conditions with just 53 1/2 kilos, her chances rise considerably as an intriguing threat. She is also chasing the Trébol de San Isidro bonus, which carries a 50 percent purse incentive.

The compact field is completed by Creencia Espiritual (Strategos, 52) and The New Star (Lenovo, 51), both assigned light weights but stepping up against more accomplished rivals.
