The Argentine mare will race this Saturday at Fair Grounds, making her debut under the training of Horacio de Paz,and seeking to bounce back from her disappointing performance in the First Lady Stakes (G1) at Keeneland

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (Special for Turf Diario).— This afternoon’s major card at Fair Grounds will feature an Argentine and South American protagonist with the return to action of champion Nanda Dea. Now trained by Horacio de Paz—who took over following the retirement of Ignacio Correas (h.)—she is set to compete in the Marie G. Krantz Memorial Stakes (L), contested over 1,700 meters on the turf with a $100,000 purse.
The daughter of Fortify has solid experience here, as it was the site of her 2025 victory in the Albert M. Stall Memorial Stakes (L), prior to suffering an injury that required surgery and kept her sidelined for over a year.
With Flavien Prat confirmed to ride and quoted at 9/2 on the morning-line, the Haras Santa Inés mare made her comeback in early October with a disappointing effort in the First Lady Stakes (G1); however, a physical setback prevented her from delivering her best performance. Following steady and solid workouts, the time has come for Nanda Dea to prove her mettle in a race that could be fundamental for her future.
The task will not be easy for the mare, facing rivals such as Medoro (Honor Code). With José Ortiz confirmed in the irons and a stellar record as backing, Medoro is looking to rebound from her first off-the-board finish when she ran sixth in the Matriarch Stakes (G1) at Del Mar.
A winner of the Providencia Stakes (G3), the Osunitas Stakes (L), the China Doll Stakes (L), and the Blue Norther Stakes (L), in addition to multiple Grade 1 placings, this will be the first trip outside of California for the Peter Eurtontrainee.
From the Brad Cox barn and with Irad Ortiz Jr., Sweet Treasure (Twirling Candy) arrives coming off a positive third in the Pebbles Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct and is ready to take a step forward. Likewise, Stylish Sue (Nyquist) is prepared to rehabilitate herself after a poor showing in the Cardinal Stakes (L) at Churchill Downs.
