Need You Tonight, Charm, Gordianus, El Emporio, Butterfing... Palermo is getting ready

The Grandes Premios de Honor (G1) and Gilberto Lerena (G1), to be run on April 4, have their entries, with top-class fields

Due to the holidays next week, Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo moved up the entries for its upcoming meetings, and among the races to come are the Grandes Premios de Honor (G1-2,000 m, dirt) and Gilberto Lerena (G1-2,200 m, turf), intermediate steps in the Campeonatos de Oro, for both colts and fillies.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 4, with a winner's prize of 30,000,000 pesos in each of these tests, the show seems guaranteed after analyzing the names that appeared as probables.

For the Honor, El Emporio (Il Campione) will attempt to secure his seventh consecutive stakes victory at Avenida del Libertador and Dorrego, although he will face the toughest challenge of his life if confirmed. There, Gordianus (Señor Candy), the hero of the 2025 Gran Premio Nacional (G1), is expected to return, as is Need You Tonight (Hat Ninja), winner last season of the Grandes Premios República Argentina (G1) and Estrellas Classic (G1), who left the scene after competing in the Latinoamericano (G1) at Gávea, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Honor would also be the next step for the gray Butterfing (Angiolo), runner-up to Gordianus in the Derby and who has just returned to action winning by demolition. Billion (Galicado), Buen Escosés (Bodemeister), Cazador de Areco(Long Island Sound), the Brazilian Out of the Blue (Drosselmeyer), and the G1 winner Unico Happy (Hi Happy) could also be in the gates.

Regarding the Lerena, among the 17 probable participants, the presence of Charm (Strategos) clearly stands out, as the best filly of 2025 who returned with a great victory in the Clásico Bullrich (G2).

Angelic Champ (Cima de Triomphe), Cannolina (South Kissing), Class Life (Fortify), Doña Lucila (Equal Talent), Equindi (Gouverneur Morris), Gigantografía (Bodemeister), Miss Kalima (Seahenge), Miss Talento (Equal Talent), Neowise (Agnes Gold), the Uruguayan Patriótica (Trinniberg), Playa Chopera (Treasure Beach), Portal Maya(Portal del Alto), Presencial (Suggestive Boy), Romana Craf (Mastercraftsman), Soltá la Barra (Suggestive Boy), and Soy La Líder (Manipulator) could also be present.
