With only 11 entries, the most important race of the Carreras de las Estrellas could also feature the presence of The Gladiator's Hat, Vundu, Honest Boy, and Real Rim

A total of 127 horses were entered to compete between the 26th and 27th of this month in a new edition of the Carreras de las Estrellas, but only 11 of them would take part in the Gran Premio Estrellas Classic (G1). The 2000-meter event is scheduled for the second of those dates and will be held on the turf course at Hipódromo de San Isidro.

Boasting 104,000,000 pesos in total purses—with $65,000,000 reserved for the winner—the lineup features five G1winners, including Need You Tonight, who triumphed 12 months ago at Palermo and will attempt a repeat performance. However, to secure a spot in the starting gates, he will once again have to pay the supplementary entry fee, which, as is customary within the series, will be added to the purse.

A winner of back-to-back editions of the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1), this would mark the third turf appearance for the son of Hat Ninja owned by Stud-Haras El Wing, following a runner-up finish to Acento Final(Treasure Beach) in the 2025 Gran Premio General San Martín (G1) and an unplaced effort in the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1) run last October at Gávea, Brazil.

The Classic will also mark the local return of The Gladiator's Hat (Hat Ninja), who comes off a massive performance in the Latinoamericano at Monterrico in Peru, finishing third behind the Chilean runner Teao (Ya Primo), though he arguably could have been the runner-up.

The bay colt would be one of two strong representatives for Stud-Haras El Angel de Venecia, which also entered Honest Boy (Heliostatic), winner of the 2025 25 de Mayo (G1) and coming off a third-place finish behind Magnum Fifth (Daniel Boone) in his title defense attempt. No less formidable is the entry of Vundu (Suggestivo Boy), hero of the 2024 Classic at San Isidro who comes off a gritty victory in the Clásico Forli (G2). Furthermore, Firmamento could have Real Rim (Remote) in the gates, hoping that the latest winner of the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) remembers his finest afternoons after some recent efforts well below expectations.

A Mares (Seahenge), Don Machete (Daddy Long Legs)—winner of the Clásico Macon (L)—Mister Coquette(Bodemeister), Neat Colt (Treasure Beach), and Full Keynote (Full Mast), who also carries the condition of paying the supplementary fee, complete the list of probable field members.

Final declarations will take place next Monday, while the post-position draw has been scheduled for Tuesday the 23rd.
