The 2023 generation added two new winners on Friday afternoon over the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo dirt, with a common denominator: Haras Vacación as the breeder.

First, the filly Tarea Fácil (Fortify and Temida Rye, by Catcher In the Rye) opened her campaign with a convincing victory in the Premio Teidi (1,200 m, dirt) and, later, the colt Thomas Shelby (out of Tarabela, by King's Best) lived up to his credentials in the Premio Elogioso (1,200 m, dirt), with the added fact that he became the first winner in the country for the sire Uncle Chuck (Uncle Mo), whose second and final generation will be marketed this season, as he died early in the United States.

Trained by Guillermo Frenkel Santillán for Stud Victoria, and with Juan Cruz Villagra in the irons, Tarea Fácillived up to her name and did not have to struggle to overcome a large field of rivals, justifying her favoritism.

The chestnut was always in tune with the leaders while Happy Family (Fortify) set the pace. The frontrunner felt the pressure in the straight, Tarea Fácil dominated and pulled away with ease, crossing the wire with a 5-length advantage over La Agostinelli (Tetaze), clocking 1m13s35/100.

A little while later, on the day Netflix premiered the Peaky Blinders movie, Thomas Shelby prevailed from start to finish, living up to his strong previous performances.

With Kevin Banegas up, and all four legs bandaged, the bay was pure explosion in the early stages, establishing a gap from the start. Once in the straight, he maintained his rhythm and ended up defeating Niño Mático (Pneumatic) by 2 1/2 lengths, in 1m13s55/100, a mark just slightly slower than that used by the fillies.

The defender of Stud Pipilo opened a double for Gonzalo Peralta, who was in charge of saddling him and later returned to the winner's circle with Qué Onda Man (Qué Vida Buena), who secured his first victory in the kilometer of the Premio Pontesia.

The one who performed much lower than expected was the heavy favorite El Volka, a son of Vekoma trained by Marcelo Sueldo from whom much was expected. When the time came, he finished fifth, 15 lengths back. We will have to wait for the rematch.

Tarea Fácil and Thomas Shelby now have the possibility of joining the stakes process ahead of them, looking toward the major events to come.
