It came as little surprise that Nevado Pisco led the 2025 edition of the Gran Venta Selecta hosted by Haras Santa Inés, where Alessandro Miserocchi’s operation offered the cream of its 2023 foal crop.

Held in a hybrid format—both in person at the Tattersall of San Isidro Racecourse and online—under the direction of (Arg) Sale, the event reached its high point when Stud La Rosaura landed the striking son of Fortify (Distorted Humor) for $80,000 after a spirited bidding battle.

Foaled July 24, the dark bay colt is a half-brother to champions Nanda Dea (Fortify) and Nanabush (Il Campione), as well as Peruvian stakes winner Eliitas (Catcher In the Rye). Their dam, Nanga Parbat (Majestic Warrior), is a half-sister to G2 winner Norimberga (Exchange Rate) and descends from a top-tier imported family that also includes the likes of Tiz Now Tiz Then (Tiznow) and Chilean standout Practical Cat (Practical Joke).

Joining him on the podium were Point to Point and Nilsa, each knocked down for $70,000, to Stud Las Monjitas and an undisclosed buyer, respectively.

Also by FortifyPoint to Point is a full brother to multiple graded-placed Punta Turquesa and a maternal half to Paso Nevado (Hi Happy), runner-up in the 2023 G1 Gran Premio 2000 Guineas. Their dam, Pleasant Pacific (Stormy Atlantic), hails from a noted American family that includes Dalhart (Forty Niner), who stood at Haras La Biznaga, though his stud career was hindered by health issues.

Nilsa, meanwhile, gave another commercial boost to Gouverneur Morris (Constitution), one of the breakout sires of the season. The filly is a half-sister to Peruvian G1-placed Rey Elías (Catcher In the Rye), and her pedigree traces back to the same influential female line as Nanda Dea and Nanabush.

Of the 48 yearlings cataloged, two were withdrawals and three failed to meet reserve. The remaining 43 lots grossed a total of $1,265,600, yielding an average of $26,367 and a median price of $24,247.

With blue-blooded pedigrees and the backing of leading stallions, Haras Santa Inés once again made a bold impression in the sales ring—setting the stage for these youngsters to shine on the racetrack in the near future.
