The trainer is going through a dream spell, and Haras El Doguito’s homebred filly scored a thrilling victory in the Clásico Orbit (L) with a spectacular late surge in the final stride

Palermo, San Isidro, La Plata—short, long, or in between; fillies or colts; stakes or handicaps—it makes no difference. Nicolás Martín Ferro keeps dominating the headlines, racking up victories in the country’s most important races, and this Friday brought yet another reason to celebrate.
After last Sunday’s triple with Blue Caviar (Equal Stripes), Treasure Island (Treasure Beach), and Flying to the Sky (Señor Candy), followed by midweek wins from Black Stripes (Equal Stripes) and Look Happy (Hi Happy), the streak continued when Increpante captured the Clásico Orbit (L–1200m, dirt, fast) at the Jockey Club Argentino.
Carrying just 115½ lbs, the Haras El Doguito homebred—raced by the Villar Urquiza family—produced a spectacular result in equally spectacular fashion, snatching victory in the final stride from a resurgent Causeway Girl (Dabster, 128 lbs), who seemed home and clear only seconds earlier.
With Iván Monasterolo in the irons—the same jockey who had shone the day before at La Plata aboard Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson) in the Clásico Hipódromo Independencia de Rosario (G3)—the Sigfrid filly came from the rear, rallying wide in the stretch to unleash a furious charge that ended in a photo finish. She denied the pacesetter, who had dictated terms strongly and led by three lengths midway down the stretch, only to be caught right on the wire.
Once again, Ferro’s unstoppable momentum prevailed, with Increpante getting up by half a length over the Al Adiyaatrunner in a commendable 1:22.24. Six lengths back came Guadilu (Señor Candy, 125½ lbs) to complete the trifecta, while Bichita de Luz (Fragotero, 133 lbs) checked in fifth and favorite Arlea (Orpen) faded to seventh.
Out of Ikurriña Baska (Orpen), who also produced Il Divo (Treasure Beach)—third in the Jockey Club (G1) and fourth in the Ensayo (G3) of 2021—Increpante entered off a fifth-place finish in the Handicap Giovanetti at Palermo. The newly turned 4-year-old now boasts four wins from twelve starts, continuing the phenomenal roll of her in-form trainer.
