The Santa Fe-based farm hosted its fourth stock sale last Friday, highlighted by the filly Soy de Tradición, who topped the session at 88,000,000 pesos

ARRUFO, Santa Fe.- A sudden storm that erupted after the session had already begun couldn’t put a damper on the excitement last Friday in this Santa Fe town, as Haras La Tradición hosted its 4th Gran Remate de SPC. The Berteros family farm offered clients and friends its entire 2023 production, joined by invited studs including El Chañar, La Valkiria, and La Numancia.
Passion always prevails, and this event was no exception. Despite adverse weather forcing a brief pause in the auction, the sale reaffirmed itself as one of the most significant in the interior of the country.
The hammer of Carlos Ezcurra was active throughout the session, which saw its top price go to the filly Soy de Tradición, a daughter of Lizard Island, purchased for 88,000,000 pesos (terms: cash and 10 installments) by the partnership of Carlos Laborde and Mariano Grimaldi.
Born on October 19, the filly is a maternal sibling to classic winners Ramses (Manipulator) and Señor Dan (Señor Candy), out of Mi Vigía (Storm Surge), herself a winner of the Clásico Olavarría (G3).
The second-highest price was paid for Hit Chapel, by Hit It a Bomb and the second foal of the celebrated White Chapel (Not for Sale), who won 12 races at Palermo and La Plata, including several handicaps and specials. She brought 72,600,000 pesos, purchased by Los 4 de Córdoba.
Rounding out the top three was Sin Impuestos (Angiolo – Diga, by Equal Stripes), sold after a long bidding battle to Vera for 45,100,000 pesos.
The sale at Haras La Tradición totaled 632,500,000 pesos (approximately US$468,000), with an average of 27,500,000 pesos (US$20,370). Beyond the numbers, the event was a celebration of camaraderie and friendship, proving once again that the passion for bloodstock runs deep.
