MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (Special for Turf Diario).- A spectacular day is set for this Sunday at Hipódromo Nacional de Maroñas, with the Triple Crown and its second leg taking center stage through the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G3-2000m, dirt).

If that wasn’t enough, the card also features the Gran Premio Selección (G1-2000m, dirt), the Gran Premio de Honor (L-2400m, dirt), the Clásico Plinio Oribe y Andrés Oribe Deus (L-1000m, dirt), and the Handicap Especial España (1600m, dirt).

Following his brilliant victory in the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G3)Tadow Star stretches out to 2000 meters for another step toward history. The Midshipman colt from Haras Phillipson will seek revenge on Zelenski (Vineyard Haven) and Goldcross (Goldikovic), who finished second and third, 3 and 4 1/2 lengths behind, respectively, in that earlier contest.

The major threat, however, is Obstacle (Hofburg), whose first local start saw him win the Clásico Criadores Nacionales (L) while setting a new 1800-meter record of 1:46.18. The Stud Duplo Ouro runner will be no easy target.

Another contender to watch is Ultimate Best (Synchrony), a two-time winner and runner-up to Obstacle, though he will need to improve significantly and hope that Obstacle does not reproduce his best form.

In the Gran Premio SelecciónTantan Royal, another Midshipman from Phillipson, seeks to consolidate her status following her Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G3) victory. She will face stiff competition from Patriótica(Trinniberg), who has impressed since breaking her maiden a few weeks ago and carries a high reputation. Voice Out(Outstrip), runner-up by 1 3/4 lengths to Tantan Royal in the Polla, appears to be the third main threat.

The Gran Premio de Honor will pit the vast experience of Pluto (Discreetly Mine) against the class of Native Extreme(Emcee), who returns to the surface where she won the Gran Premio Presidente de la República (L).

Finally, in the Clásico OribeLa Sobrina (Trinniberg) will face stiff challenges from Peligrosa (Kodiak Kowboy) and Melodía de Dios (The Leopard), promising a competitive sprint showdown.
