LA PLATA.- Already established as one of the most successful riders on the local circuit, Jorge Peralta has elevated his career in recent seasons through tireless work and a marked improvement in performance. Tuesday’s La Plata card proved particularly rewarding for the jockey, who headed home with four victories, highlighted by a clear-cut success aboard Sonreime in the 1200-meter Handicap Día del Veterinario (fast).

Teaming once again with trainer Juan Saldivia and carrying the silks of Stud Don Valentino—as he had last Thursday when guiding Winston (Forge) to victory in the G3 Polla de Potrillos—Peralta delivered a flawless ride on the Haras La Manija-bred son of Orpen. Breaking sharply from the inside, Sonreime went straight to the lead, drew off when turning for home, and powered clear to score by a comfortable five lengths over Lo Dejo Todo (Le Blues), who had bested him in their previous meeting. Another 1 1/2 lengths back came the veteran Vespaciano (Daniel Boone) in third, with the clock stopping at 1:11.44.

Now a 4-year-old, Sonreime continues to solidify his credentials in the one-turn sprint division and will next target the prestigious G2 Clásico Ciudad de La Plata, slated for its traditional November 19 date.
