Lessons of Life, Noche Alta Loom as Main Threats to Orpen Rimout Ahead of Copa Diamante

Just as the Clásico Porteño (G3) serves as a stepping stone toward the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1), the Clásico Omega (G2, 1600m, turf) offers fillies and mares a key prep en route to the Gran Premio Copa Diamante (G1), set to be run in just over a month on the same card as the national holiday feature, along with the GI Gran Criterium and GI Gran Premio de Potrancas.
Quality runs deep in this year’s Omega, headed by Orpen Rimout (Remote), who returns to a distance that suits her perfectly following a strong runner-up effort, beaten 2 1/2 lengths by Dream Serena (Forge) in the Clásico Paseana (G2).
The Stud Los Apóstoles mare will need to be at her best to fend off the rising Lessons of Life (Le Blues), who stepped forward in style when capturing the Clásico Fernández Guerrico (G2), narrowly defeating that same Dream Serena.
Another major contender is the seasoned Noche Alta (Hi Happy), who returns from a 175-day layoff boasting an outstanding résumé. A multiple graded stakes winner—including the Asociación de Propietarios (G3), Círculo de Propietarios (G3), Carlos Tomkinson (G2), and Sibila (G2)—she was last seen finishing a close second, just 1 1/2 lengths behind champion Knows All (Le Blues) in the Clásico Los Haras (G2) over 2000 meters. Back at her preferred trip, she demands serious respect.
Breaking from the rail, International Look (Cosmic Trigger) was one of the standout fillies of 2024 but struggled to find consistency last season. With multiple graded placings to her name, she returns from a 251-day absence, though her connections remain confident.
Fresh off a comeback win at allowance level, My Pride (Daddy Long Legs) ran a solid third in the Paseana, finishing three lengths behind Orpen Rimout and one ahead of Soñadora Pícara (Suggestive Boy), who lines up again here.
Lightly raced Sátira Gaucha (Cityscape) is another with upside, while Forti Leaf (Fortify) still has something to prove after failing to build on a promising 2025 campaign. Paxing (Señor Candy) completes what shapes up as a deep and highly competitive field.
With a strong blend of proven class and emerging talent, the Omega promises to be a pivotal test on the road to the Copa Diamante.
