The La Plata Mile Will Feature Established Front-Runners Like Paraná Miní and Storm Sound Against the Up-and-Coming Señor Dan and Several Other Legitimate Contenders

LA PLATA.- The Clásico About Today (1600m, dirt), Tuesday's feature at La Plata, shapes up as a terrific contest, bringing together 3-year-olds and up under weight-for-age conditions.

The pace is expected to be sharp from the outset, making tactics and stamina key factors. Can the front-runners hold off the closers? Or will the race set up for a late charge?

Paraná Miní (Winning Prize) and Storm Sound (Hi Happy), two of the most experienced in the field, will likely go forward, but would be wise to avoid a pace duel that could compromise both. Paraná Miní comes off a narrow defeat to Monsieur Delon (Il Campione) in the G2 Clásico 25 de Mayo de 1810, while Storm Sound, though disappointing in that same race, is a proven stakes performer.

The up-and-comer is Señor Dan (Señor Candy), who stretches out to a mile for the first time after back-to-back wins at this track, including the Clásico Jockey Club de Mendoza over 1400 meters. If he handles the added distance, he could be a serious threat.

Returning from a 100-day layoff is Adorado Rim (Remote), one of the best local sophomores earlier this season, who was last seen finishing third behind Storm Sound in the Clásico Vilas Light.

Also traveling in are The Goat (Fortify), a talented but inconsistent type trained by Juan Carlos and Juan Sebastián Maldotti, and Nanuc (Security Risk), a three-time conditional winner now facing the acid test against stakes-level opposition.

All signs point to a compelling edition of the About Today, where proven class and emerging talent collide.
