Palermo Gears Up for Stellar Card Featuring Five Stakes Races and the Road to the Triple Crown

The upcoming weekend will feature two top-class cards, with the Chacabuco (G2), Old Man (G3), and Güiraldes (G3) kicking off the selection process for the 3-year-olds

Two spectacular cards are on tap at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, featuring five stakes races and marking the start of the sophomore selection process for the second half of the season, with the Triple Crown trail officially underway.

Saturday’s highlight is the launch of the Palermo Oro Verde Championship with the G2 Clásico Chacabuco over 2400 meters for older horses. A strong group of ten has been nominated, led by Crazy Talent (Equal Talent), one of the nation’s top older runners. Potential rivals include Eco Rush (Ecólogo), El Estanciero (Fire Slam), El Pulque (Heliostatic), Epityrum (Portal del Alto), Gadzooks (Galán de Cine), Halteres (Hat Ninja), Motor de Mar (Treasure Beach), Saphirus Blue (Daniel Boone), and The Gladiator's Hat (Hat Ninja).

The day also features the G3 Clásico Old Man (1400m, dirt) for 3-year-old colts, with eight entries: Coro de Rojas (Daddy Long Legs), Last Chance (Hurricane Cat), Liberto (Hurricane Cat), Piu (Leofric), Sea (Daddy Long Legs), The Outsider (Roman Joy), Vampiro Zen (Zensational), and Winston (Forge).

For fillies, the G3 Clásico Manuel J. Güiraldes (1400m, dirt) drew 13 nominations, including: Cannolina (South Kissing), Castaña Pass (Distinctiv Passion), Emisora Mundial (Santillano), Envidiada (Il Campione), Forti Leaf (Fortify), Go Claro Go (Strategos), La Graviere (Seahenge), Mi Confesión (Suggestive Boy), My Pride (Daddy Long Legs), Orphila (Daniel Boone), Sea Daisy (Daniel Boone), Space Needle (Hit It a Bomb), and The Great War (The Great Day).

On Monday, top-level racing continues at Palermo with the G3 Inés Victorica Roca (1600m, dirt) for older fillies and mares, and the Listed Guillermo Paats (1000m, dirt) for 2-year-olds.

The Victorica Roca features entries such as Elvitas (Cosmic Trigger), Escolastic Girl (Suggestive Boy), Ethereum (Portal del Alto), Garbiñe (Lucullan), It's My Look (Equal Stripes), and Maga Zulu (Equal Talent).

The Paats could include: Antiguo Secreto (Angiolo), Baby Pass (Distinctiv Passion), Cuentalo Otra Vez (Strategos), El Fortín (Il Campione), Elekto (Santillano), Emm Yugo (Emmanuel), Estrella Guía (Il Campione), La Farce (Emmanuel), Let Me Dance (Le Blues), and Verdadera Pass (Distinctiv Passion).
