Featuring five stakes races between Saturday and Monday, Palermo will host two standout cards, marking the start of the 3-year-old classic trail, with the G2 Chacabuco as the main attraction

With the customary age change for horses, the first programs of the second half of the year show a dip in entries compared to the closing weeks of the first semester. Nonetheless, Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo is set to host two stakes-loaded cards, featuring five black-type races between Saturday, July 5, and Monday, July 7.
Saturday will mark the kickoff of the Campeonato Palermo de Oro Verde with the Clásico Chacabuco (G2, 2400m, turf) for 4-year-olds and up. The day also features the Clásico Old Man (G3, 1400m, dirt) and the Clásico Manuel J. Güiraldes (G3, 1400m, dirt), for colts and fillies respectively, offering the first classic preps for the new crop of 3-year-olds en route to the Triple Crown.
In the Chacabuco, Crazy Talent (Equal Talent) will take on seven rivals after finishing third in last year’s edition: El Estanciero (Fire Slam), Epityrum (Portal del Alto), Gadzooks (Galán de Cine), Halteres (Hat Ninja), Motor de Mar(Treasure Beach), Saphirus Blue (Daniel Boone), and The Gladiator’s Hat (Hat Ninja).
The Old Man attracted seven runners following the withdrawal of Last Chance (Hurricane Cat): Coro de Rojas (Daddy Long Legs), Liberto (Hurricane Cat), Piu (Leofric), Sea (Daddy Long Legs), The Outsider (Roman Joy), Vampiro Zen(Zensational), and Winston (Forge), promising a high-quality showdown.
The Güiraldes also drew seven fillies: Envidiada (Il Campione), Forti Leaf (Fortify), Go Claro Go (Strategos), Mi Confesión (Suggestive Boy), My Pride (Daddy Long Legs), Sea Daisy (Daniel Boone), and The Great War (The Great Day).
On Monday, Palermo will stage two more stakes: the Inés Victorica Roca (G3, 1600m, dirt) for fillies and mares four and up, and the Guillermo Paats (Listed, 1000m, dirt) for juveniles.
The Victorica Roca field includes Elvitas (Cosmic Trigger), Escolastic Girl (Suggestive Boy), Ethereum (Portal del Alto), Garbiñe (Lucullan), and Maga Zulu (Equal Talent), in a tribute to the unforgettable Baby.
Meanwhile, the Guillermo Paats will feature Antiguo Secreto (Angiolo), Baby Pass (Distinctiv Passion), El Fortín (Il Campione), Elekto (Santillano), Emm Yugo (Emmanuel), Estrella Guía (Il Campione), and Let Me Dance (Le Blues).
