Another high-stakes afternoon is on tap at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo this Saturday, with key prep races for the G1 Polla de PotrillosG1 Polla de Potrancas, and the final leg of the Campeonato de Oro Verde set to headline a stacked program.

The 3-year-old colts will square off in the G2 Clásico Miguel Cané (1600m, dirt), while the fillies take their turn in the G2 Clásico General Luis María Campos (1600m, dirt). For the older long-distance runners, the G2 Clásico Comparación (2400m, turf) promises to be a stern test.

After tasting defeat in the G1 Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile, where he was beaten by Drive Joy (Fortify), Amor de Contramano (Gouverneur Morris) returns looking to make amends in the Miguel Cané. His rivals include Curious Song(Sixties Song), Full Keynote (Full Mast), Gardel Pass (Distinctiv Passion), Gordianus (Señor Candy), Hi Scottish (Hi Happy), Jazz Disfrute (Hi Happy), Liberto (Hurricane Cat), Nevado Catedral (Gouverneur Morris) and Piu (Leofric).

The Luis María Campos has also drawn a competitive field, with no late scratches. The six fillies entered are: Citadelle(Fortify), Moon Frank (Gidu), My Pride (Daddy Long Legs), Queen Elinor (Señor Candy), Sweet Sabrina (Daniel Boone) and The Great Village (The Great Day).

In the Comparación, Crazy Talent (Equal Talent) will chase a rare double-event after capturing the G2 Clásico Chacabuco last time out. A victory here would put him within striking distance of the Oro Verde Championship title.

Standing in his way will be top-class competition, including G1 winners Ceniza Pampa (Hat Ninja) and Special Dubai(E Dubai), along with Don Champagne (Long Island Sound), Gadzooks (Galán de Cine), Oleguer (Equal Stripes), and Saphirus Blue (Daniel Boone).

Saturday’s program will also boast over 245 million pesos in guaranteed pools and bonuses, adding further excitement to an already loaded card.

Looking ahead to Monday, August 4, Palermo will stage the Clásico Sierra Balcarce (2200m, turf) for fillies and mares four years old and up. Among the expected starters are: Argomasa (Lucullan), Beauty de Triomphe (Cima de Triomphe), Kalansara (Fortify), Maximiana (Treasure Beach), Olimpia de Epiro (Southern Cat), Risible (Orpen) and Titmus (Cima de Triomphe).
