In top form, the son of Qué Vida Buena will race under weight-for-age conditions in the Especial Platería, contested over 1100 meters

LA PLATA.- The sprinters will also take center stage in the local card this Thursday afternoon, as alongside the Clásico Amilcar A. Mercader (L), the Especial Platería will be run over 1100 meters for horses aged 3 and up, under weight-for-age conditions.
Given the current circumstances, it seems everything is set in favor of the ever-consistent Pan y Circo, who will chase his third consecutive win—and ninth of his campaign—against six rivals, with the ideal starting position of gate one, perfectly suited to his front-running style.
The gray has long been one of the top figures in the division here, most recently reaffirming his status with back-to-back victories in the Clásicos Hipódromo de San Isidro and Emilio Casares (L). Not to mention his triumph in the 2024 edition of the latter, as well as wins in the Clásicos Uberto F. Vignart (G3) and Asociación Bonaerense de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3).
Since September 2023, the gray has been exclusively competing in stakes races, and the weight-for-age condition allows him to take this step back, where his biggest challenge will likely come from the promising 3-year-old Yukon Jack (Remote), who recently turned in a strong performance in the Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1) at the San Isidro Turf, finishing sixth out of 18 runners, just 3 1/2 lengths behind the retired Arellano (Angiolo).
At 9 years old, Surfing Boy (Hurricane Cat) remains a serious contender at this level, having narrowly lost to Pan y Circo by half a head in the Casares, and then finishing third behind Es Aristocrático (Angiolo) in the Clásico Jockey Club Argentino (L) over 1400 meters. Should he find a late burst, an upset would not be surprising.
Experience is on the side of Hit Tifón (Hit It a Bomb) and Eyes Have It (Il Campione), both of whom have been inconsistent in form. Meanwhile, the 3-year-olds Lo Dejo Todo (Le Blues) and Cacal Island (Lizard Island) bring promising pedigrees that indicate the potential risks they present in the starting gates.
Lo Dejo Todo recently won the Clásico Telescópico at San Isidro and finished fourth in the Casares, while Cacal Island disappointed in that same race but previously won the Clásico Club Hípico de Tandil (L) and placed fourth in the Uberto F. Vignart.
The Especial Platería is sure to deliver excitement, with the sprinters always stepping up to enhance the spectacle.
