Haras Legacy achieved a sensational 1-2 finish in the Grande Prêmio João Adhemar de Almeida Prado, with Persano leading home Paid In Full, while Passion of Detail, representing Haras Santa Maria de Araras, made her top-flight debut with a devastating late rally in the Grande Prêmio Margarida Polak Lara

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (Special for Turf Diario).— The first two G1 events of the Brazilian Breeders' Cup festival produced dominant performances and revealed rising stars set to headline the juvenile division. Persano (Can the Man) and Passion of Detail (Hofburg) captured the Grande Prêmio João Adhemar de Almeida Prado (G1) and the Grande Prêmio Margarida Polak Lara - Taça de Prata (G1) over the Gávea turf mile, each putting on a top-class display.
Haras Legacy commanded center stage once again by sweeping the top two spots in the Almeida Prado (G1). Victory belonged to Persano, a son of Can the Man and the Argentine-bred mare Una Cabeza (Leroidesanimaux), bred by Haras Anderson and trained by Luiz Esteves. He grimly fought off the late charge of his stablemate Paid In Full(Hofburg) to prevail by a neck.
The race featured a demanding early tempo. Persano and Twist do Iguassu (Kentuckian) engaged in a fierce battle for the lead through the opening stages until the latter forged ahead, allowing the eventual winner to settle before making his move.
Upon turning into the stretch, Persano reclaimed the lead with ease, though Paid In Full launched a formidable rally from wide out. The two Haras Legacy runners monopolized the finish, with Persano responding courageously to Valdinei Gil's urgent riding to preserve a tight advantage at the wire.
Potente (Hofburg), who once again gave the impression of a prospect suited for longer distances, finished third ahead of Upson (Sangarius) and Rabat Again (Courtier).
In just his 4th career start, Persano secured his second victory and his first G1 triumph, stopping the clock for the 1,600 meters in a blazing 1m32s98/100.
While the colts delivered a thriller, the fillies matched the drama in the Grande Prêmio Margarida Polak Lara (G1). Passion of Detail raced near the rear of the field for most of the trip before unleashing a devastating late rally to win with authority.
Bred and raced by Haras Santa Maria de Araras, the daughter of Hofburg and Gucci Star (Wild Event) captured her maiden victory in just her third career start.
The race was dictated from the start by Pedaço do Céu (Emcee), who set the pace pressed by Peace Child (Hofburg), while the other Araras representatives—Party Anthem (Pimper's Paradise) and Passion of Detail—bided their time further back. In fact, the future winner traveled in 11th position, second to last, for much of the run.
Entering the stretch, Pedaço do Céu relinquished her lead after setting the early tempo. Party Anthem took control with 200 meters remaining, but was quickly confronted by Urge (Outstrip), who appeared bound for victory until Passion of Detail emerged wide on the track with a powerful surge.
Guided expertly by Leandro Henrique, the favorite mowed down opponent after opponent to strike the front in the closing strides, drawing away to win by two lengths over Urge. Nella'Acquerella (Sangarius), another filly with just one prior outing, completed the trifecta, confirming the depth of a division just beginning to blossom. Party Anthemand Tina do Iguassu (Universal Law) rounded out the pay window.
Trained by Christiano Oliveira, Passion of Detail stopped the clock in 1m34s31/100 for the mile, validating the promise she displayed when finishing a good second in a maiden event during Grande Prêmio Brasil (G1) week.
Furthermore, her victory carried rich pedigree significance for Haras Santa Maria de Araras. Her third dam is Jenny Jacquet (Roy), tracing back to the family of the unforgettable Smile Jenny—the first mare to conquer the Copa ABCPCC Clássica - Matias Machline (G1), a legacy that added another chapter this year with Summer do Iguassu'striumph against the males.
