After 3 graded stakes attempts, and carrying just 53 kilos, she won easily in the Handicap Cote D'Or

Dropping considerably in class, and carrying a featherweight, Paxing rediscovered victory in the Handicap Cote D'Or (1600m, normal dirt), the feature event of Saturday's card at Hipódromo Palermo.
After contesting several graded stakes, including at the highest level, the mare from Stud Haras La Gringa felt fully at home with just 53 units in her saddle, tracking the pacesetter Master Jane (Mastercraftsman, 55) from the break, overtaking her midway through the home straight, and easily drawing away to neutralize the efforts of the heavy favorite Guadilú (57 1/2) to catch her. In the end, there were 4 lengths separating the two—a 1-2 finish for the stallion Señor Candy (Candy Ride)—with Master Jane holding onto third position another 2 lengths back, and the rest finishing as best they could after a weight assignment that left much to be desired. The winning time was 1m37s38/100.
Martín Montoya shone in the irons of the chestnut filly trained by José C. Blanco, who back in November had won the Clásico Tía Gallarda at La Plata before embarking on those graded attempts that failed to yield the expected results at the highest level.
The afternoon in Buenos Aires lacked the usual quality for a Saturday on the track, but it produced a strong total handle of $916,906,770 pesos, with an average of $57,306,673, ranking among the best of the season.
