Paxing goes for the Handicap Mouchette at Hipódromo Palermo

The daughter of Señor Candy faces a large and tricky field over 1800 meters

Set over a thrilling 1,800 meters, the Handicap Mouchette stands as the feature race on the solid card assembled for this Friday at Palermo. Open to mares 5-year-olds and up, carrying a 7,600,000 pesos purse for the winner, it attracted a competitive field of 15 runners, featuring several strong contenders.

Although she carries one of the high weights at 57 1/2 kilograms, Paxing (Señor Candy) looms a notch above her rivals. Winner of the Handicap Cote D'Or, she subsequently finished a half-length runner-up to International Look (Cosmic Trigger) in the Clásico Inés Victorica Roca (G3), before placing fifth—not far behind Blessed Shine (Honour Devil)—in the Clásico Ricardo P. Sauze (G3).

She drops slightly in class to get back on the winning track, though she crosses paths with Foggy of Song (Sixties Song, 55), who finished a distant third to Martana (Fortify) in the Clásico Correas (G2); here, however, she races over an ideal distance against less demanding company.

In the Handicap Jorge H. Iglesias, Sir Brave (Lencelot, 55 1/2) pulled off a victory that surprised most, while It's My Look (Equal Stripes, 57 1/2) finished fourth. Both will enter the starting gate this afternoon, intent on validating that performance and rebounding, respectively.

Moon Scenery (Puerto Escondido, 57 1/2) enters off a win in the tough Handicap Giovanetti, and the objective is to keep that momentum going. Norita Love (Homage, 52) arrives full of confidence from the condition ranks while carrying a light assignment. Finally, Existing (Winning Prize, 54) cannot be overlooked; entrusted to the hot hand of Adrián Giannetti, a winning effort would be no surprise at all.
