The Señor Candy filly takes on Increpante and Illa Alegre in the final major test of the season for staying mares

LA PLATA, Argentina (Special to Turf Diario).— Just five days ahead of the G1 Gran Premio Copa de Plata, the staying fillies will have another significant showdown on Argentine soil, this time switching to the dirt at La Plata. The occasion is the G2 Clásico Los Criadores, to be contested over 2000 meters, with a winner’s purse of ARS 14,775,000—well below what the race once offered, when it was conceived, alongside the G2 Clausura, as a true season-ending highlight.
A field of eight is set to go postward, without a standout on paper, and Paxing will attempt to extend her upward trajectory in her first start at graded level. Following a conditions victory at San Isidro, the Señor Candy filly shipped to La Plata and turned in a dominant performance in the Clásico Tía Gallarda, cruising home by 10 lengths over 1700 meters. She now stretches out again in distance and faces a deeper group, making this a genuine test for the Stud Haras La Gringa representative.
Also on the rise is Increpante (Sigfrid), who makes her first appearance at La Plata after capturing the Clásico Orbit (L)on the San Isidro dirt and then finishing second to Orpen Rimout (Remote) in the G2 Clásico Carlos Tomkinson at Palermo, also while stepping up in trip.
The mercurial Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson) remains difficult to gauge. At seven, time may be catching up with her, but when she fires—as she did in the G3 Clásico Hipódromo Independencia at Rosario or the L Otelo A. Orlandi—she is far from an easy rival.
Soy La Líder (Manipulator) is well below the form that once made her one of the leading fillies of last season at this venue, though connections still believe she can be competitive in this kind of assignment.
A rung below on paper, Pasaron Cosas (Treasure Beach), Primera Fila (Equal Stripes), Beauty de Triomphe (Cima de Triomphe) and Wild Sea Baby (Seahenge) will look to spring an upset and land a victory that would resonate well beyond this meeting.
The Clásico Los Criadores may lack a headline act, but it offers a meaningful crossroads for the division, with Paxing aiming to confirm her promise against proven and aspiring rivals alike.
