"The son of Rahy was imported to Argentina in 2008 by Haras Carampangue and leaves behind a legacy of high-quality winners and significant runners as a broodmare sire

There was a sense of somber reflection at Sebastián Rivera’s Haras Buen Ojo this Friday. In the quiet paddocks where he had enjoyed a well-earned retirement since 2023, Perfectperformance (c, 24, Rahy—Bakistroika, by Nijinsky)passed away at age 24. The stallion was a rare bridge between the refinement of European elite racing and the rugged durability required to succeed on South American tracks. His death marks the end of a journey that began under the lights of Newmarket and concluded as a foundational influence in the heart of Buenos Aires province.
Foaled in 2002 and bred to the highest standards by Brushwood Stable in the U.S., the chestnut son of the legendary Rahy was a high-caliber performer in England for Godolphin. Under the care of Sir Michael Stoute, he reached his peak at two, capturing the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot—one of Britain's most prestigious tests for juvenile talent—alongside a victory in the Stonehenge S.
In 2008, Haras Carampangue orchestrated his move to Argentina, wagering on a pedigree that promised versatility. After several seasons, he stood at Haras San Lorenzo de Areco before arriving at Buen Ojo in 2019, where he covered a limited number of mares in his final active years.
Perfectperformance’s legacy as a sire is highlighted by G1 winners Bajista and Perfecto Juez, as well as a long list of stakes winners including Doña Polola, Che Trago, Perfect Delivery, Señor Elliogalon, Amante Perfecto, Río Plateado, Teenek, Hooker, Doña Kawi, Great Dance, and Jordan Valley.
His lifetime statistics reflect a consistent producer of winners: from 668 registered foals, 386 reached the track, with 209 winners (54.1%) and 11 stakes winners (3 at the graded level).
As a broodmare sire, Perfectperformance has been in the spotlight recently through the success of his grandson Sono Perfetto (Tetaze), winner of the G2 Clásico Clausura at La Plata. Other stakes winners carrying his name in the bottom half of their pedigrees include Vida Amorosa (Safety Check), Save Your Tears (Full Mast), Doña Chila (Peten Itza), Perfect Smile (Sigfrid), Super Dakota (Señor Candy), Don Palco (Orpen), and Western Camp (Orpen).
While he may not have been the leading sire of his era, Perfectperformance was the ultimate "owner’s horse," consistently delivering winners for mid-sized operations and fulfilling the dreams of those for whom a trip to the winner's circle is the ultimate goal.
