The daughter of Que Vida Buena took the Especial Paris Queen over High Rimout, who was compromised by a slow start

LA PLATA.- Maylena long-threatened a stakes-level score, and on the final card of the season at La Plata Tuesday, the consistent filly finally found the winner’s circle in the Especial Paris Queen. Carrying 54kg, the daughter of Que Vida Buena dug in gamely to secure her first black-type success over 1000 meters on a fast dirt track.
Guided by Lucas Guida, the Stud Levalle colorbearer sat a perfect trip just off the early speed. While Beauty Check (Safety Check) set the initial tempo, Maylena and Queen’s Reward (Grand Reward) applied heavy pressure as the field navigated the turn.
Upon entering the stretch, the leader attempted to kick away, but Maylena quickly overhauled her to take command. In the final stages, she successfully held off a late inside surge from High Rimout (Remote), who was once again compromised by a poor beginning—though notably less severe than in previous efforts.
At the wire, Maylena held a half-neck advantage over the runner-up, who arguably could have taken the spoils with a cleaner start. Beauty Check stayed on for a creditable third, 1 1/2 lengths further back. The final time for the five furlongs was a sharp :59.42.
Conditioned by Eduardo Corsiglia and bred by Enrique Mascotena and Oscar Matheu, Maylena ends her season on a career-high note.
