Inactive since the 2024 Estrellas Distaff, she put on a show over 2000 meters at Palermo

Winner of the 2023 Clásico Francisco J. Beazley (G2) and third that same year behind Romance Sea (Seahenge) and Madonna Benois (Angiolo) in the Gran Premio Selección (G1), Poker Mommy made her long-awaited return on Friday at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, scoring a spectacular victory in the Premio Yuspe after nearly eight months on the sidelines.
Comebacks are rarely easy, especially over the demanding 2000-meter distance on dirt. However, for the Daddy Long Legs filly representing Stud Los Betos, the task proved as effortless as her past performances suggested.
With Francisco Leandro aboard for the first time, the gray filly went straight to the lead and began widening her advantage upon turning for home, ultimately crossing the wire eight lengths clear of Godess (Valid Stripes), to whom she was conceding 5.5 kilos. She stopped the clock in a solid 2:02.23 over a fast track.
Trained by Franco and Gustavo Scarpello, Poker Mommy had not raced since June 29, 2024, when she finished well behind in the Gran Premio Estrellas Distaff (G1) at San Isidro after suffering an injury.
Bred by Haras Abolengo and also a runner-up in the Handicap Rafale, Poker Mommy took a significant step toward a potential campaign in the Campeonato Palermo de Oro for fillies and mares, which kicks off next month with the Clásico Bullrich (G2) over the same course and distance where she dazzled this time.
