The Daddy Long Legs Filly Faces Four Tough Rivals in the Clásico Hipódromo Independencia de Rosario (G3)

LA PLATA.- The long-distance fillies’ division in La Plata will make a new stop this Thursday with the Clásico Hipódromo Independencia de Rosario (G3), contested over 2,000 meters, kicking off a stakes doubleheader that will be completed by the Clásico España (L) for sprinters.
With just five confirmed runners, the race will mark the local debut of northern invader Poker Mommy, who has been preparing to return to top-level form, reminiscent of her juvenile days when she captured the Clásico Francisco J. Beazley (G2) and finished third behind Romance Sea (Seahenge) and Madonna Benois (Angiolo) in the Gran Premio Selección (G1).
A few physical setbacks interrupted the career of the Daddy Long Legs filly, who comes off a third-place finish behind Martana (Fortify) in the Clásico Chile (G2) over the Palermo dirt.
In that same event, La Guernica (Il Campione) edged past her in the final stages by a half-length, benefiting from the hard-fought battle that Poker Mommy had with the eventual decisive winner for much of the race. Poker Mommy’s advantage is her prior success on this track, which is known to be a challenging surface for newcomers.
Another serious contender is Soy La Líder (Manipulator), one of the top juvenile fillies in 2024, winner of the Clásico Andrés S. Torres (G3) and runner-up in major tests such as the Gran Premio Selección de Potrancas (G1), Raúl Aristegui (G2), and Amílcar A. Mercader (L). After a brief layoff, she returned in May and has since recorded a conditional win and a couple of unimpactful finishes.
The experienced Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson) has raised her level with a second to Garbiñe (Lucullan) in the Especial Asociación Argentina de Fomento Equino, a race contested at a longer distance. Finally, Foggy of Song (Sixties Song)comes from Palermo with trainer Eduardo Tadei, following a spectacular eight-length triumph over 2,200 meters in a lower-level event three months ago.
