The Major Races at Palermo on Saturday Now Have Confirmed Starters and Assigned Post Positions

Everything is ready for the kickoff of the 2025 Argentine Triple Crown at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo this Saturday, highlighted by the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G1, 1600m, dirt) and Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G1, 1600m, dirt).

After two withdrawals, 16 colts are confirmed for the male division, while the fillies’ division remains intact with 9 starters. Post positions for both races were drawn Monday in Palermo’s Tribuna Paddock.

The total purse for the events is ARS 74,555,000, with ARS 35,000,000 allocated to each winner. Each starter contributed ARS 1,500,000, which was not added to the purse.

Among the colts, Drive Joy (Fortify) is the one to beat after his victory over the injured Amor de Contramano (Gouverneur Morris) in the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile (G1). Other key contenders include Liberto (Hurricane Cat) and Gardel Pass (Distinctiv Passion), second and third in the Miguel Cané (G2), along with Es Por Amor (Strategos), third behind The Great Racing (The Great Day) in the 2000 Guineas (G1).

In the Gran Premio Polla de PotrancasCharm (Strategos) will attempt to capture her third consecutive Grade 1, following victories over turf at San Isidro in the Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1) and on dirt in the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1).

Roshita (Gouverneur Morris), winner of the Jorge de Atucha (G1) who unexpectedly lost her unbeaten record in the Estrellas, seeks redemption. Moon Frank (Gidu), coming off a brilliant win in the Clásico General Luis María Campos (G2), also enters with strong claims.

Other notable fillies in the starting gate include Tiz Joy (Fortify), a winner of the Eliseo Ramírez (G2)Forti Leaf (Fortify), victor in the Manuel J. Güiraldes (G3); and Mi Confesión, runner-up in that same race before capturing the Bayakoa (L) at San Isidro. The list is rounded out by Cannolina (South Kissing)Lessons of Life (Le Blues), and Souq (Forge).
