The daughter of Starspangledbanner captured the Coronation Stakes (G1) and was a standout figure on the fourth day of the royal meeting

BERKSHIRE, England (Special for Turf Diario).– If there was still any doubt about who the best miler filly in Europe is, Precise took it upon herself to dispel it this Friday at Royal Ascot. The daughter of Starspangledbanneronce again exhibited all her class to capture the Coronation Stakes (G1-1600 m, turf), adding the fourth G1 triumph of a campaign that already places her among the most outstanding figures in European racing.
The representative for Coolmore and trained by Aidan O'Brien arrived preceded by her recent victory in the Irish 1000 Guineas (G1) and fully responded to favoritism. With Ryan Moore in her reins, she covered a large part of the race on the outside, far from traffic issues, and when launched to run midway through the straight, she showed a commanding acceleration to seize the lead.
From then on, she never gave a sensation of defeat. Although the British filly Touleen (Lope de Vega) found room late and finished with tremendous force, Precise always maintained control to prevail by a length and a half. Further back, just a neck behind the runner-up, finished True Love (No Nay Never), her stablemate and winner of the English 1000 Guineas (G1).
The winner thus elevated her record to 6 victories in just 8 presentations and ratified an extraordinary resume that already included successes in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1) and the Fillies' Mile (G1) during her 2-year-old campaign.
"Ryan did a great job because the filly broke a bit slowly and he managed to keep her out of trouble. When she hits the front, she seems to get a bit lazy, but when you ask her, she really accelerates," O'Brien explained. "She can continue on the mile or even go up in distance. She has many options."
Moore agreed with the assessment of his mount: "Perhaps I sat a bit further back than I wanted at the beginning, but the important thing was to keep her comfortable. She got into a perfect rhythm and I knew she was going to finish strongly. She is the best filly and there was no need to complicate the race."
Behind the favorite, Touleen left an impression that invites optimism for the future. The defender of the Shadwellcolors suffered interference just as she was trying to follow the winner's move and ended up closing ground with immense power.
"On paper, it is a fantastic result to split the two classic winners, but it's a bit frustrating because of how it played out," commented her jockey Saffie Osborne. "When she finally found room, she ended up flying."
There were also reasons for enthusiasm in the camp of True Love. The Ballydoyle pupil raced much of the running on the outside and without cover, a circumstance that probably cost her significant energy. Even so, she battled until the end and completed the podium of a top-level event.
With this new conquest, Precise not only confirmed the excellent form of Aidan O'Brien's stable at Royal Ascot, but also reinforced her candidacy to become one of the grand protagonists of the second half of the European season. And while the mile remains her natural territory, the way she finished the race allows one to think that 2000 meters could be perfectly within her reach.
Just like Thursday with Scandinavia (Justify), Coolmore, Aidan O'Brien, and Ryan Moore stole all the applause at Royal Ascot.
