SAN ISIDRO, Argentina (Special for Turf Diario).– Pretoriana is establishing herself on the turf straight at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, racking up important victories while her team can now begin eyeing even tougher challenges. The Santa María de Araras bay mare has now claimed the Clásico Miss Terrible (1000m), taking another step forward in her ascending career during another Wednesday afternoon session.

Carrying a moderate 55 kilos (some would say she got off light...), the favorite (paying $2.50) responded with great composure, always traveling among the leaders and finishing with significant power without the need for jockey Iván Monasterolo to urge her severely.

On a track as hard as concrete, the race unfolded over fast fractions of 22s30/100 and 43s41/100. This makes the winner's powerful finish even more impressive, as she clocked a very interesting partial of 11s39/100 for the final two furlongs, stopping the clock at a remarkable total time of 54s80/100.

While she is not genetically bred for pure sprinting, trainer Nicolás Martín Ferro has found the green straight to be the perfect playground for his mare. The numbers are conclusive: 3 wins and 1 second under those conditions.

Forever Rim (Remote, 56) finished second, 2 1/2 lengths back, putting in another positive performance to finish just 3/4 of a length ahead of Flamboyance Rim (Remote, 60), from whom much more was expected.

For Pretoriana, the tally now stands at 4 wins from 9 starts, with a meager prize money total of just over 25 million pesos—a pittance considering she already boasts two stakes victories and a couple of placings in that category.

Regarding her pedigree, her dam Performance Best (Orpen) has already produced three other winners and is a half-sister to G2 winner Perfect Event (Wild Event), from the family of G1 winners Personal Right (Lode), Spaceship (Lode), and Veraneio (Signal Tap), among others.

Pretoriana has found her place in the world on the San Isidro straight, and graded stakes now await her with open arms. Based on her recent form, no one will be surprised if she shines in that arena as well.
