Fresh off a third-place finish in the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1), he faces several tough rivals this time over the turf

The Clásico Fondistas Provinciales (2000m, turf), which for several years now has formed part of the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1) meeting at Hipódromo de San Isidro, has essentially become a local version of the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1), bringing together the best stayers emerging from the major distance races run throughout Argentina’s interior circuits.
Its 2026 renewal attracted a deep and competitive field, most of them very familiar names on the local scene thanks to their regular participation in major events.
When selecting a leading contender, much of the attention naturally turns toward what unfolded in the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1) at Palermo, where Private Blend (Lucullan) produced an excellent third-place finish behind Need You Tonight (Hat Ninja) and Votá Bien (Hi Happy) while finishing ahead of horses such as Butterfing (Angiolo), Billion (Galicado), and El Emporio (Il Campione), among others.
Representing the Río Cuarto-based Stud Don Cato, he now faces two rivals who arrive in outstanding current form at the higher levels: Mister Coquette (Bodemeister) and Quality Boy (Asiatic Boy).
The former recently captured La Plata’s Especial Forli, while the latter comes in off consecutive victories in the Especial Rico and Especial Full Sail, both contested over San Isidro’s dirt surface.
Cornwall (Remote) is another highly respected name in the lineup.
His most recent outing resulted in a fourth-place finish behind Castañón Rim (Remote) in the Clásico Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo (L), though one crucial detail cannot be overlooked: he is the defending champion, having won this very race 12 months ago.
Southern Secret (Southern Cat) also brings valuable experience at a strong level and is certainly capable of making the most of it.
