The finish of Wednesday’s Handicap Make Tracks, the feature at San Isidro, produced a photograph that will undoubtedly rank among the year’s very best. Energy, intensity, precision and sheer beauty all converged in a three-way battle that delivered a breathtaking image.

The glory went to Príncipe Soñado (Fragotero, 60kg), who overcame the demanding topweight and nailed pacesetter Bingo Song (Alcindor, 58.5kg) right on the wire. The photo showed a nose advantage, with Bank One (Lenovo, 57kg) a major player as well, finishing third just a half-neck behind.

As is customary in San Isidro’s short dirt races, the pace was electric. Bingo Song blasted out of the gate with intent, pressured immediately by East Ender (Il Campione, 55kg), who forced him through a sharp opening 400 meters—around the turn—in :23.50.

Once in the stretch, the leader managed to open a slight gap, but never found a moment of peace. Príncipe Soñadolaunched his rally up the rail, while Bank One swept forward on the outside, setting up a heart-pounding three-way duel.

For a moment it appeared Bingo Song might refuse to yield, and then Bank One looked poised to finish strongest. But hugging the fence, drawing on all his experience, and driven relentlessly by Facundo Coria, Príncipe Soñado surged late to prevail.

Stopping the clock in 1:04.30—with an 800-meter split of :46.90—the Stud Ceferino de Chimpay runner, kept in superb form by Darío Periga from his Santa Rosa base in La Pampa, earned the seventh win of his 44-race career. The performance reinforced the strong form he displayed when finishing third in the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2) on November 19.

A deserved reward for the handicapper, for the horses who left everything on the track, and for the photographer who captured an image worthy of the 2025 Photo of the Year title.
